This one-day foundational course equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills to safely handle chemical spills and leaks in the workplace. Through a mix of theory and practical exercises, participants will gain the confidence to respond quickly and effectively during spill incidents — including during pandemic or infectious outbreaks.
By completing this course, participants will be able to:

Identify hazardous materials and classify them under the nine hazard classes.

Recognise chemical hazards using NFPA 704 and HazChem systems.

Take immediate safety actions during a spill or release incident.

Select and use the correct PPE (including Levels A–D chemical suits and SCBA).

Understand respiratory protection types and limitations.

Apply containment and confinement techniques, such as diking, damming, absorption, and neutralisation.

Perform decontamination procedures for personnel and equipment.

Set up HazMat zones and facilities effectively (Hot, Warm, and Cold zones).

Understand the HazMat Incident Command System (ICS), including roles and communication flow.

Participate in a mock drill to reinforce response procedures through hands-on scenario-based learning.
